EQUIMOTIONAL

Learning about ourselves through horses.

Horses have a wonderful way of helping us explore ideas about ourselves and the world around us.

Go Gallop uses selected Equimotional educational resources alongside Courage to create engaging, horse-inspired activities exploring emotions, friendships, sensory differences, mindfulness, communication and connection.

Through conversation, creative activities, games and interaction with Courage, participants can explore these ideas in an approachable and engaging way — with the horse providing a familiar focus for learning.

The emphasis is on curiosity, participation and discovering individual strengths, rather than labels or expectations.

A different way to explore big ideas.

Equimotional activities don't have to feel like sitting down to complete a workbook.

Selected activities can be brought to life through conversation, drawing, colouring, observation, games, problem-solving and interaction with Courage.

Horses and horse characters provide an engaging way to introduce topics that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. Participants can explore ideas, notice differences, share thoughts and take part at a level that feels comfortable for them.

Activities can be adapted to the age, interests, abilities and communication style of the participant or group.

And participation doesn't have to mean riding Courage — sometimes simply working alongside him can be just as engaging.

EXPLORE & DISCOVER

There's more than one way to learn about ourselves.

Go Gallop draws from a selected collection of Equimotional resources, choosing activities to suit the participant or group.

EMOTIONS

Using activities from the Managing Emotions Workbook, participants can explore different emotions, how we recognise them and the many ways people may experience and express how they feel.

SENSORY DIFFERENCES

Embracing Sensory Diversity introduces participants to the idea that people can experience sights, sounds, touch, movement and other sensations differently.

Through horse characters and engaging activities, participants can explore their own preferences while learning that everyone's sensory experience can be different.

FRIENDSHIPS & CONNECTION

Friends & Healthy Relationships provides opportunities to explore friendship, communication, kindness, boundaries and what healthy relationships can look like.

MINDFUL MOMENTS

Activities from Mindfulness with Dora introduce simple opportunities to slow down, notice and pay attention to what's happening in the moment.

CREATIVE & QUIET ACTIVITIES

Resources including the Equimotional Mindful Colouring Book and Equimotional Spot the Difference provide relaxed, accessible ways to participate and engage with the Equimotional characters and themes.

STORIES & CHARACTERS

Equimotional characters including Charlie & Beannie can help introduce ideas through stories and horse-centred activities, providing another way for participants to engage with the topics being explored.

A HORSE-INSPIRED LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Go Gallop's Equimotional activities are educational and participation-focused. They are not counselling, psychology or mental-health treatment.

Where a participant is already working with health, education or support professionals, Equimotional activities can sit alongside those existing supports as an engaging horse-inspired learning experience.

Go Gallop uses selected educational resources developed by Equimotional. Activities are chosen and adapted by Go Gallop according to the participant, group and setting.

WHY COURAGE?

Sometimes it's easier when the conversation isn't about you

A horse can provide a shared focus for an activity. Instead of beginning with “How do you feel?”, an activity might begin by wondering how a horse character feels, what Courage might notice, or what could help a horse feel comfortable in a particular situation.

From there, participants can explore ideas, make observations and share as much or as little about themselves as they choose.
